The Under One Sky exhibit features the early history (1850s‑1890s) of the Spokane Valley. The region was the ancestral homeland of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. The room features various historical artifacts from the Coeur d’Alenes and other regional tribes.
The exhibit also explores the history of the fur traders, the missionary priests, the Mullan Military Road, and Antoine Plante (considered Spokane County’s first permanent settler). The room has a large map that lights up the routes of early trails, roads, and railroad lines, along with pinpointing historic sites such as forts, battles and missions.
