All Fairs Led to Expo ‘74

May 4-September 2, 2024. Discover the history of fairs in our region, starting in 1886, that led up to Expo ‘74. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the world’s fair in Spokane with signs, original rides and more from the 1974 event!

Mullan Military Road

Mullan’s Military Road exhibit opens on May 25th. 624 miles of road were constructed from Ft Walla Walla, WA to Ft Benton, MT from 1858 to 1862.

Communications Corner

Technology developed our ability to communicate with the world and the Museum has a replica telephone switchboard for you to investigate.

Apple is King

Apple orchard farming was the chief economic driver in Spokane Valley’s early years. Without water, however, none of it was possible.

Under One Sky

Spokane Valley is the ancestral homeland of the Coeur d’Alene tribe. Under One Sky exhibit features stories of fur traders, missionary priests, Antoine Plante, and the Mullan Road.

School Field Trips

Engage Students in History!

Students from 3rd grade through high school can benefit from learning their local history. Get all the logistics to plan your field trip, including group sizes, bus parking, and fees. Reserve a date for your class to visit the museum!


In addition to our themed rooms with full-time displays, we feature traveling exhibits, plus special events and presentations throughout the year. Put these events on your calendar to spice-up your activity list this year!

Group Tours

We offer tours for all ages and group sizes. Plan your visit to the museum for the best local history experience with a knowledgeable docent to guide you through the past.


The Spokane Valley comes to life with our on-site presentations and tours. Our best docents can come to you and do a presentation at your location.

We also can do a driving tour with you! What a great way to learn about local history! Bring a docent in your car for a Drive Your History Tour.
